Slice of life: Year 3

So...it's been three years since I first set foot in the MTC.
It's hard to believe. I remember how terrified I was, and how surreal it seemed to actually be a missionary, and how weird it was to think I wouldn't see my family for more than 2 years. It was quite the experience. I remember thinking how cool the 8-week guys were, and how good they thought their spanish was, and how the food had some pretty immediate side effects....
It was a crazy day. I don't think there were a lot of dry pillows that night. 2 years later though, there wouldn't be any dry eyes either, but for a totally different reason.
But, I can honestly say that taking that first step through the Missionaries Only door was the best decision that I've ever made up to this point. I really can blame every good thing that's ever happened to me to that moment.
I'll save the really sentimental stuff for June 1oth, which is my year-getting-home mark, but June 4th, 2008 was perhaps the most terrifying and yet one of the greatest days of my life. It was the start of the greatest adventure that I've had to date.
That being said, I'm excited for the greatest adventure of my life starting in just nine short weeks.....
