Slice of Life: Day 7

Have you ever seen part of you that you wish you had never seen before?
Today I saw a lot of my own blood. Fortunately, it wasn't anything serious. I was just donating plasma. But man, I have a lot of blood. It was in tubes and floating around...crazy stuff. When you donate plasma, they basically take your blood out, spin it around in this machine, and then stick it back in you. Getting stuck and giving blood isn't bad. Having it put back in you is. My left hand was really cold by the end of it. Plus, it's terribly uncomfortable.
But I got paid 40 bucks for doing it today.
But man, that was a lot of blood. I just wonder if one of those tubes broke, then how messy would my blood be.
It wasn't something that I enjoyed seeing.
The point of all this is thus:
Right after I got done there, I found out that my future uncle in law (we'll just call him uncle) had an accident doing something, and wound up cutting off a couple of fingers. They don't know if they can save them, but they certainly are going to try.
I saw my blood and kind of freaked inside. He saw a whole lot more.
I got my blood back. He might not get his fingers back.
I still have full mobility. He might not.
I can only imagine how that must feel. So, if you read this, when you say your prayers tonight, pray for him, that he can make a good recovery. I'm sure he is in enough pain, he could use everything he can get. He's a good man, it's sad that these things happen.

  1. Thanks, Sam. Have I mentioned that you're awesome? We seem to have a lot of appendage issues in our family...
